Here are the track listings for my sample CD, January 2011. If you received a CD from Chris at the GALA Director's Weekend, this is the track listing for that CD. If you didn't get one and would like to, please drop me a note at F148548@gmail.com and I'll be happy to send you one.
1. Abbot's Bromley Horn Dance - An instrumental version of the tune for mandolins and guitar.
2. Tomorrow Shall Be My Dancing Day - SATB and instrumental ensemble; could easily be TTBB or SSAA with very flexible accompanying ensemble.
3. The Holly and the Ivy - SSAA with guitar and handbells (harp in this recording); featuring pre-Christian lyrics closer to the original symbolism of holly and ivy. SATB version exists already, could be TTBB very easily, accompaniment could also be adapted.
4. Comfort, comfort you my people - SATB, guitar, whistle, and tambourine
5. Before the paling of the stars - SATB a cappella - Music by Steve Brenn, text after Christina Rossetti
6. The Rune of St Patrick - SATB, guitar, mandolin, whistle, fiddle, with optional percussion - Music by Robert Hanshaw, text Traditional Irish
7. Nova nova - Unison voices and handbells (or harp or piano) - Traditional Scottish tune, can be as involved with the dialect as you want to be.
8. Winter Light - Piano quintet - A movement from my piano quintet. Included for your amusement mostly.
9. Down in yon forest/Tallis: The Third Tune - Instrumental setting of the folk tune/the Tallis original (SATB) with new lyrics
10. Gloria - SATB, clarinet (or whistle), mandolin, guitar, harp, and string quartet - A new Celtic flavored setting of the traditional text
11. The Turn of the Year - SATB and instrumental ensemble, written to be the concert closing companion to the concert opener Tomorrow Shall Be My Dancing Day
12. America the Beautiful - SATB a cappella - A "concert in the park" version of the standard tune for community performances
13. Over the Rainbow - SATB a cappella - This has become the signature tune for Desert Voices.
All performances by Awen Rising except for the last two which are by Desert Voices, all in Tucson AZ.
All instrumental accompanying groups are very flexible and could be adapted for anything from piano alone to full orchestra. Most voicings are flexible, too.
Enjoy!
